Does Clino find me a cleaner or nanny?

No. Clino isn't a staffing or cleaning agency. You've already found someone. Clino guides you through employing them correctly: employment contract, payroll, insurance and AHV registration. Who you hire is entirely up to you.

Do I really have to register my cleaner?

Accepted Answer

In almost every case: yes. In Switzerland, every private employer is legally required to register household workers for social security (AHV) and insure them against accidents. (AHV fact sheet 2.06) There is one small exception: people under 25 who earn less than CHF 750 per year. Clino checks this automatically during the process. What exactly is the simplified billing procedure?

The simplified procedure (under the BGSA) allows private households to settle social contributions and a flat-rate withholding tax of 5% through a single body. The cantonal compensation office. (Source: BGSA) It applies to salaries up to CHF 22'680 per person per year. The advantage: no separate salary statement needed, no tax return for the salary, and accident insurance can, in cantons that offer it, be insured via VAVplus. (Merkblatt 2.06)

How much do I really save compared to Quitt?

Depending on the salary, up to 75% on fees and more the higher the salary, since Quitt's fee grows with the wage while ours stays flat. For a typical housekeeper (3 hours per week, CHF 30/h), you pay CHF 19.90 per month with us (flat fee) instead of CHF 43.76 with Quitt Start or CHF 33.60 with Quitt Comfort. What happens if my cleaner has an accident at work?

Through the simplified procedure with VAVplus, the mandatory accident insurance (UVG) can be insured on request. You opt in when you register (in cantons that offer VAVplus). (Source: Suva) In case of a work accident, the insurance covers treatment costs and daily allowances. Without registration, the UVG substitute fund (Ersatzkasse UVG) pays and charges you as the employer substitute premiums (Art. 95 UVG).

My housekeeper is paid in cash. Is that okay?

Yes, the salary can be paid in cash. However, we recommend a bank transfer as it serves as proof. Important: regardless of the payment method, the payslip and social contributions must be correctly processed. Clino creates the statement. How you pay the salary is up to you.

Question 7

What else do I need to do besides signing up for Clino?

Two things. First, sign the employment contract with your cleaner (we generate it for you). Second, register once with your canton's compensation office (Ausgleichskasse), the office that collects AHV contributions. Can I cancel at any time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. No contract, no minimum term, no fine print. You can deactivate your account at any time. Documents already created (contracts, payslips) remain available to you.

What if my housekeeper works for multiple households?

Accepted Answer

That is the normal case. Each household registers separately and creates its own payslip. With Clino, your housekeeper can view all their payslips in one place. Regardless of how many employers they have.

After the initial setup, Clino guides you throughout the year: a compliance dashboard shows the status of your obligations (AK registration, annual report, invoice payment). Accepted Answer

No. You can start right away and create the employment contract. The AHV number and other documents can be added anytime later. Clino automatically reminds you which information is still missing.

When am I charged?

Accepted Answer

Only after 30 days. Signing up is free. To start the trial and download documents you add a card in your dashboard, but nothing is charged until 30 days have passed. Cancel within 30 days and you pay nothing. After that it's CHF 19.90 per month, cancellable monthly.

Is Clino worth it if my cleaner only comes 3 hours a week?

Especially then. Even at one hour a week, you're legally required to register with AHV as an employer. Most of our customers have one cleaner for a few hours. CHF 19.90 a month is the same price for 3 hours or 20.

I've been paying my housekeeper informally for years. Can I regularise this?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this is a common reason customers come to Clino. You can start running the employment correctly right away. Clino creates the contract and payslip and shows you how to file the late registration with the compensation office.

Does Clino work in my canton and with my housekeeper's permit type?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Clino covers all 26 cantons. With the correct FAK rates and canton-specific forms. The simplified procedure applies to all permit types (B, C, L, F) and Swiss citizens alike. You don't need to know the details.
