Your 6 rights
What you're legally entitled to — even if you work only 2 hours a week.
Fair wage per canton
Typical wage depending on canton CHF 22–26 gross per hour. The legal floor is the federal NAV household work (CHF 20.35/22.30/24.55, from 5 h/week, Geneva excluded). Less is wage dumping.
Paid holidays
At least 4 weeks per year (5 weeks if under 20 or over 50).
Pay when sick
Your employer must pay you even when sick (Bernese scale, etc.).
Accident insurance (UVG)
Mandatory from the first hour of work — paid by the employer.
Notice period
7 days during probation, then 1 month in year 1, 2 months from year 2.
Written contract
Hours, pay, holidays — in writing. No contract = you still have rights (CO).

A message for you
You're not alone.
Over 200,000 domestic workers are employed in Switzerland. You have the same rights as any other employee — no matter where you're from, no matter how many hours you work.
What you lose by working off the books

CHF 27 gross, provable
Often CHF 18–22, no proof
UVG from hour 1, employer pays
None — you pay hospital out of pocket
Full contribution years credited
0 years — up to CHF 312/month less
Clear: hours, pay, holidays, notice
Verbal arrangement — nobody can prove anything

Earning less? That's wage dumping.
Afraid to ask your employer?
We get it. Here are the three most common worries — and what actually happens.
"He'll fire me if I ask to be registered."
Firing you in retaliation for a legitimate request is abusive (CO art. 336). You can claim up to 6 months' wages in compensation (CO art. 336a). And the notice period applies — you have time to find a new job.
"I'll be reported or deported."
The AHV office does NOT routinely report registrations to migration authorities. If you have a permit, nothing changes. If not, talk to a counselling service (Caritas, FIZ) — they know paths that don't put your safety at risk.
"My employer will be upset."
Most employers simply don't know how — and are grateful for a simple solution. With Clino, registration takes 5 minutes and costs CHF 19.90/month. Frame it as help, not a demand. The generator below drafts the message kindly.

Ask your employer to register you
Send a clear, friendly message — we draft it for you. WhatsApp or email.
Hi [Employer name], I wanted to ask if we can sort out the AHV registration. It's a legal requirement and protects us both — you're covered if something happens to me, and I build up pension years. It's easier than it sounds: clino.ch handles everything automatically (contract, payslip, registration). Costs CHF 19.90/month.
