Question 1 of 7

Do you employ a domestic worker?

Why is legal employment important?

What is undeclared work?

Undeclared work means employment without registration. Your domestic worker works without being registered with a compensation office and without the required social contributions being paid.

Who checks?

The compensation office, tax authorities and cantonal police carry out inspections. Undeclared work is particularly noticeable in cases of large income jumps, missing account records or reports by third parties.

How do I register correctly?

With Clino, setup takes less than 5 minutes. We calculate all contributions correctly and guide you step by step through AHV registration — with pre-filled forms and clear instructions.

Anonymity

This test is anonymous and does not store your answers. It is for self-assessment only. Your actual situation is ultimately assessed by the responsible compensation office.

Undeclared or legal — the difference is smaller than most people think. And it's sorted in a few days.

Been going on for a while without registration?

It can be fixed. Our guide shows step by step how retroactive registration with AHV and accident insurance works, what self-reporting means and what costs to expect.

Frequently asked questions about legalisation

Can I register my cleaner retroactively?
Yes, at any time. The compensation office claims the contributions owed — up to 5 years back (AHVG Art. 16), plus default interest. If you regularise on your own initiative, you pay the arrears; if you're caught in an inspection, you additionally risk a fine. The earlier, the cheaper.
What happens if I report myself to the compensation office?
You register the employment, declare the wages paid so far and receive a contribution invoice. The relationship is then legal — from that point payslips and insurance run normally. The check above shows which steps are missing in your case.
What do inspectors check for household employees?
Four things at the core: AHV registration, accident insurance (UVG), payslips and the employment contract. Exactly the four points this check asks about — and Clino guides you step by step through each of them.
How much does employing legally cost?
Usually less than expected: social contributions are only a small share of the wage — the salary calculator shows the exact amount for your canton in a minute. Add Clino at CHF 19.90 per month for the contract, payslips and guidance through every registration.
Is this check really anonymous?
Yes. Your answers stay in the browser — nothing is stored without your consent. Only if you request the report or the action plan by email do we store your email address for that purpose.
This is what legal looks like: contract signed, AHV registered, insurance sorted — both sides protected.
