The family allowance contribution (FAK) is 1.025% of gross wages in the Canton of Zürich, paid solely by the employer. Clino calculates this automatically.

There is no cantonal minimum wage in Zurich. The minimum wage of the federal NAV for household work is binding: CHF 20.35 an hour unskilled, CHF 22.30 with 4 years' experience or an EBA, CHF 24.55 with an EFZ. It applies from 5 hours a week with the same household. The city of Zurich has voted a minimum wage of CHF 23.90. It is not in force yet. The city of Winterthur has voted a minimum wage of CHF 23.00. It is not in force yet.

Under the simplified procedure you settle AHV/IV/EO, unemployment insurance and a 5 % withholding tax once a year through the compensation office (SVA Zürich). It is optional and applies up to CHF 22'680 of annual wage per person. Accident insurance (UVG) is only included if you choose the plus option when you register. Otherwise you take it out yourself with an insurer.

An employer who does not join a compensation office and settle the wages commits an offence under the AHV Act: a monetary penalty of up to 180 daily units (Art. 87 AHVG). On top come the social insurance contributions, as a rule back-dated up to 5 years.

In the simplified procedure, yes, for every employee: 5 % withholding tax, whatever the nationality or permit, Swiss nationals and C permit holders included. SVA Zürich settles it together with the contributions. In the ordinary procedure, withholding tax applies only without a C permit (for example B, L or G), at the ordinary tariff.

Usually no. Occupational pension only becomes mandatory once the annual wage exceeds the BVG entry threshold (CHF 22'680). Most private-household cleaning hours stay below it. Clino flags it for you if the threshold is reached.

Each employer registers and settles their own share of the wage separately with SVA Zürich. You only declare what you pay, the other households handle their own arrangements.

Yes. You enter the existing working conditions and Clino prepares the contract and the SVA Zürich registration. If an earlier registration is missing, you catch up voluntarily: contributions can be claimed up to 5 years back, but registering yourself puts you in a far better position than an inspection.

Registration itself is free. Only the social contributions apply: AHV/IV/EO 10.6% and ALV 2.2% (split in half), plus the cantonal FAK contribution (employer only) and UVG. Clino calculates all Zurich rates automatically.

In a private household, AHV registration is mandatory from the first franc – across Switzerland, including in Zurich. Only wages of employees up to age 25, up to CHF 750/year, stay exempt, unless the employee asks to pay contributions.
