Wage floor
The national domestic-work NAV protects you: at least CHF 20.35–24.55 per hour, depending on training and experience. Several cantons set even more.
Paid holidays
At least 4 weeks a year, and 5 weeks if you're under 20. Even if you only work a few hours a week.
Accident insurance
Your employer must insure you against work accidents (UVG). From the very first hour you work.
AHV & pension
Every declared franc counts toward your future pension. Even if you one day return to your home country.
And: you're entitled to a written payslip, every month.

Scammers pretend to be the migration office, the AHV compensation fund, your bank, the Post or your employer. Sometimes they know your name, your AHV number or your IBAN. That does not mean the message is real.
Never do this
- Pay through a link from a text, WhatsApp or email. Not with gift cards or crypto either.
- Send photos of your passport or ID, passwords or e-banking codes.
- Give your card details to receive money. A refund never needs a credit card.
Do this instead
- Hang up or don't reply. Look up the official number yourself (website or an old letter) and call it.
- Check your bank statement. A debit you don't recognise: tell your bank straight away.
- Report suspicious messages at antiphishing.ch. Lost money: cantonal police.
New IBAN for the salary? Call first.
If a message gives new bank details for the salary: first call the person on the number you already know. Only then pay.
Childcare has its own rules
The pack works for you too. These four points belong in every nanny contract.
Overtime is paid
If you work more than agreed, the law gives you a 25% supplement or, if you both agree, time off of equal length (Art. 321c OR). Waiving it only counts in writing. Your canton's NAV can set more for Sundays and public holidays.
No banked hours
If the family doesn't need you because they are on holiday or a child is ill, you still get your full wage. Minus hours or "banking hours" are not allowed (Art. 324 OR).
An au pair is not a nanny
Au pair means: at most 30 hours a week, room and board, a language course, and a parent at home at least half the time. If you work more or alone with the children, you are a nanny, even if you live with the family.
Full time means a pension fund
If you earn more than CHF 22'680 a year with one family, the pension fund (BVG) is mandatory. The pack includes it in the numbers for your employer.

Typical market rates, according to the Swiss Nanny Association
CHF 5'000–6'500
gross per month, or CHF 25–40 an hour, depending on experience. The minimum wage is a floor, not a recommended rate.
