Our experience with SVA Graubünden

What we learned filling in the forms, from the office's own information and documents, and with our customers. Always with date and source.

  1. Information from the office

Wage limit crossed: whole year redone

If an employee's annual wage rises above the simplified-procedure limit during the year, the whole calendar year is re-billed under the ordinary procedure back to 1 January, not just the months that follow. Source tax already paid is credited back, and the pension fund (BVG) must also be joined retroactively.

  2. Information from the office

Close to the limit: go ordinary

If it is foreseeable that the conditions will only just be met, the office recommends registering directly under the ordinary procedure. That avoids a later correction. Clino runs a household on the ordinary procedure from the first payslip when the projected annual wage is above the limit.

  3. Information from the office

    Plain or plus: your choice

Under the plain simplified procedure you take out accident insurance yourself or have the office assign you to the Ersatzkasse UVG (the substitute accident fund). Under VAV+ the insurance runs through Solida, and the office collects the premium with the AHV contributions. No extra form is needed; you choose in the federal form.

  4. Office documents

    Have your employee's address ready

The form for the wage declaration with tax deduction asks for your employee's address and canton of residence. The office needs both to settle the source tax with the right tax office. Have them ready before you fill it in.

  5. Office documents

Attach the certificate to the tax return

According to the cantonal tax administration's guide, wages under the simplified procedure are not counted in your employee's ordinary tax assessment, not even for the rate. She attaches the AHV compensation office's certificate to her tax return.
