Insurance: who picks the provider?
Both models cover the mandatory accident insurance. The difference: who decides where.
With quitt: a fixed partner
- ·Accident insurance (UVG) runs through Zurich Insurance for every employer. You cannot bring your own policy. Quitt's help center says excluding it from the service is not possible.
- ·As soon as the wage is subject to BVG, the agreement with quitt's pension fund additionally requires daily sickness allowance insurance (KTG).
- ·The upside: premiums are billed through the payroll automatically, and quitt supports you in a claim.
With Clino: you choose
- ·Clino does not broker insurance. You take out the UVG yourself. For example via the compensation offices' VAVplus offer (on explicit sign-up) or with any insurer you prefer.
- ·KTG is only needed where the cantonal NAV requires it. Clino shows you the duty and, if you want, requests a quote for you.
- ·Premiums and terms differ between insurers. Whether you save depends on wage and canton, but only those who may choose can compare at all.
Worked example: annual wage of CHF 30'000 in canton Aargau
The wage is above the BVG entry threshold of CHF 22'680, so the agreement with quitt's pension fund requires KTG insurance even though Aargau's cantonal NAV demands none: CHF 49 service fee plus a 2.3% premium, CHF 739 per year in total. Half the premium is deducted from the employee's wage; as the employer you carry CHF 394.
You decide: take out a KTG with an insurer of your choice, or go without and consciously carry the sick-pay continuation yourself (CO art. 324a). A KTG also protects your employee. The difference is who makes the call.

Honestly
Quitt has been around since 2010, has 30,000+ customers and 40 employees. They take power of attorney at the compensation office and transfer contributions on your behalf. You hand over control and pay 5–8% of the salary for it.
With Clino, you stay the employer. You register yourself at the compensation office and transfer contributions once a year. Clino calculates everything correctly, generates all documents, and guides you step by step. For CHF 19.90 flat, regardless of salary.
In short: Quitt = full service with power of attorney. Clino = you stay in control, Clino prepares every step. For most households, a cleaner a few hours a week, Clino is the smarter choice.
Salvador Jovells
Founder of Clino
What I genuinely like about quitt
quitt built something in 2010 that did not exist before: a simple way to employ a cleaner legally in Switzerland. Without quitt, far more households would still be paying cash. Their team files the declarations and pays the contributions in your name, and it has worked reliably for years.
If you want to think about none of it and price is secondary, quitt is a good choice. I say that openly because I do not want to sell Clino by talking quitt down.
I built Clino because I did not want to pay 5 to 8 percent of a wage for something software can prepare for CHF 19.90. You stay the employer, you sign yourself, and you pay a fixed price. That is the whole difference. If you are unsure which way fits you, write to me. I answer personally, even when the answer is quitt.
Who files the declarations with the authorities?
quitt: quitt files the declarations with the authorities for you.
Clino: Clino prepares every form and calculation; you sign and submit them yourself.

Switching from quitt: the questions we get
Short answers for households already paying quitt. The general Clino questions follow below.
Can I cancel quitt at any time?
It depends on the plan. quitt Start can be cancelled monthly. Comfort and Flat are yearly plans that, under quitt's terms, end at the end of the current calendar year, with no refund if you leave early. So the switch usually makes sense at the turn of the year, with the cancellation sent before. Your switch plan names the exact date.
Do I have to register my employee with the compensation office again?
No. The registration is in your name as the employer, not in quitt's. When you switch, you only revoke the power of attorney quitt holds at the compensation office (Comfort and Flat). Otherwise two parties keep filing in parallel. The switch plan tells you exactly what to revoke and where.
What happens to the current year?
Clino takes over from the agreed month. The payslips up to then stay with quitt; the annual declaration for the compensation office combines both parts. Nothing is declared twice.
And the accident insurance (UVG)?
With quitt, the UVG policy was taken out through quitt with Zurich. Whether and how long it continues after you leave is a question for quitt. With Clino you choose the insurer yourself; Clino shows you the duty and, if you want, requests a quote for you so there is no gap.
How long does the switch take?
Setting up Clino takes about five minutes: add your employee, enter the wage, and the contract and first payslip are ready. Your switch plan arrives within 24 hours of your request.
Does Clino have a money-back guarantee like quitt's 60 days?
quitt offers 60 days money back. With Clino you try it free for 30 days: nothing is charged before day 30, and you can cancel monthly at any time. There is no yearly contract.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Clino isn't a staffing or cleaning agency. You've already found someone. Clino guides you through employing them correctly: employment contract, payroll, insurance and AHV registration. Who you hire is entirely up to you.
In almost every case: yes. In Switzerland, every private employer is legally required to register domestic workers with the AHV (social insurance) and insure them against accidents. (Merkblatt 2.06) There is one small exception: people under 25 who earn less than CHF 750 per year. Clino checks this automatically during the process. Undeclared employment can lead to fines and back payments for both parties. (Source: BGSA)
The simplified procedure (under the BGSA) allows private households to settle social contributions and a flat-rate withholding tax of 5% through a single body. The cantonal compensation office. (Source: BGSA) It applies to salaries up to CHF 22'680 per person per year. The advantage: no separate salary statement needed, no tax return for the salary, and accident insurance can, in cantons that offer it, be insured via VAVplus. (Merkblatt 2.06)
Depending on the salary, up to 75% on fees and more the higher the salary, since Quitt's fee grows with the wage while ours stays flat. For a typical housekeeper (3 hours per week, CHF 30/h), you pay CHF 19.90 per month with us (flat fee) instead of CHF 43.76 with Quitt Start or CHF 33.60 with Quitt Comfort. The social contributions themselves remain identical. The state calculates those, not us. Detailed comparison with calculator →
Through the simplified procedure with VAVplus, the mandatory accident insurance (UVG) can be insured on request. You opt in when you register (in cantons that offer VAVplus). (Source: Suva) In case of a work accident, the insurance covers treatment costs and daily allowances. Without registration, the Ersatzkasse UVG pays and charges you as the employer substitute premiums (Art. 95 UVG).
Yes, the salary can be paid in cash. However, we recommend a bank transfer as it serves as proof. Important: regardless of the payment method, the payslip and social contributions must be correctly processed. Clino creates the statement. How you pay the salary is up to you.
Two things: first, sign the employment contract with your housekeeper (we generate it for you). Second, register once with the compensation office of your canton. We provide you with a step-by-step guide with the right contact details and forms. → Guide for your canton
Yes. No contract, no minimum term, no fine print. You can deactivate your account at any time. Documents already created (contracts, payslips) remain available to you.
That is the normal case. Each household registers separately and creates its own payslip. With Clino, your housekeeper can view all their payslips in one place. Regardless of how many employers they have.
After the initial setup, Clino guides you throughout the year: a compliance dashboard shows the status of your obligations (AK registration, annual report, invoice payment). Automatic reminders ensure no deadline is missed. And when the annual report is due, you receive the PDF with canton-specific submission instructions. Via portal, email or post.
Clino automatically generates the annual report from your payroll data and includes submission instructions. With the direct link to your compensation office portal, a pre-filled email, or the postal address. You receive a timely reminder and can mark the submission as done with one click. → Guide for your canton
No. You can start right away and create the employment contract. The AHV number and other documents can be added anytime later. Clino automatically reminds you which information is still missing.
Only after 30 days. You can register for free; to start your trial and download documents you add a card in your dashboard, but you're not charged until 30 days have passed. If you cancel within 30 days, you pay nothing. After that, it's CHF 19.90 per month, cancellable monthly.
Especially then. From just one hour per week, you're legally required to register with AHV as an employer. Most of our customers have exactly one housekeeper for a few hours. CHF 19.90 per month is the same price, whether it's 3 or 20 hours.
Yes, this is a common reason customers come to Clino. You can start running the employment correctly right away. Clino creates the contract and payslip and shows you how to file the late registration with the compensation office.
Yes, Clino covers all 26 cantons. With the correct FAK rates and canton-specific forms. The simplified procedure applies to all permit types (B, C, L, F) and Swiss citizens alike. You don't need to know the details.
