What to have ready for the registration

  • Your own AHV number (on your health insurance card) and your date of birth
  • Since when you employ someone and the estimated wage
  • An IBAN for refunds
  • Whether you already have accident insurance. If not, choose accident insurance through the compensation fund in the form (simplified procedure plus)

Depending on the form, the fund also asks about the employee: AHV number, date of birth and wage.

Register within 30 days

The registration must reach the Cassa cantonale di compensazione AVS within 30 days of the first working day. After that, you report the previous year's wages every year by 30 January.

What a household employee costs in Ticino

Rates in Ticino: family allowances 1.9 % of the wage, administration fee 1.5 % of the AHV contributions.

What is particular here

  • Since 1948 every municipality has had to run an agenzia. The canton plans to replace them with regional advice points. At the end of 2025 there was still one per municipality.
  • Bellinzona has two agenzie, depending on the district: Nord in the Palazzo Civico at Piazza Nosetto 5 and Sud in Sementina at Via al Ticino 6.
  • In Locarno the agenzia sees people by appointment only, in Chiasso by appointment only in the afternoon.
  • In Mendrisio the municipality's district offices (uffici comunali di quartiere) also accept the registration form.
  • The Cassa cantonale di compensazione AVS has its counter in Bellinzona, Via Ghiringhelli 15a: 8:45 to 11:45 and 14:00 to 16:00.
