How the salary is calculated

Gross wage

Hourly rate multiplied by hours worked. Plus the holiday supplement: 8.33% for 4 weeks holiday, 10.64% for 5 weeks, 13.04% for 6 weeks.

Employee deductions

Deducted from the gross wage: AHV/IV/EO (5.3%), ALV (1.1%), withholding tax (5% in the simplified procedure). From 8 or more hours per week, non-occupational accident insurance (UVG-NBU, 1.432%) is added.

Your employer contributions

In addition to the net wage, you pay as employer: AHV/IV/EO (5.3%), ALV (1.1%), occupational accident insurance (UVG-BU, 0.505%) and the cantonal FAK contribution (varies from 1.025% to 2.85% depending on the canton).

Gross or net agreed?

Many domestic workers agree on a net wage ("I get CHF 30 in hand"). In this case, Clino calculates the corresponding gross wage so that the agreed net amount remains after all deductions.

Source of contribution rates

All rates are based on the official data from the Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO) and the cantonal compensation offices, valid from 1 January 2026. UVG rates according to the VAVplus framework agreement (SOLIDA Insurance AG). FAK contributions per canton.

What now?

You know the costs. Clino prepares the rest. Contract, payslip, social security registration. You submit.

Frequently asked questions about the wage calculator

Is the calculator accurate for every canton?▾

Yes. It uses the official 2026 AHV, ALV and UVG rates plus your canton's family-allowance (FAK) contribution. Just select your canton.

Do I owe AHV contributions even for small wages?▾

Yes, in principle from the first franc. The only exception: people under 25 with wages up to CHF 750/year are exempt on request.

What is the difference between gross and net salary?▾

Gross is the agreed wage before deductions; net is what your helper actually receives. As the employer you also pay your own social contributions. The calculator shows your total cost.

What happens after I calculate?▾

Clino prepares the contract, payslip and AHV registration documents for your canton. You remain the employer and submit the registration yourself. We guide you through every step.
